Courage & Challenges (Beta)

Courage and Challenges provides a light-weight stats and rules framework that you can add to your existing roleplays, no matter the setting. It's meant to go alongside things like freeform text roleplay, adding an element of unpredictability without getting int he way of your imagination.

These rules are meant for you and one or more friends, each with your own character; there is no GM. You’ll  will collaborative define a setting and individually define their characters, each with plain language. In the course of the story, you’ll choose the times when rolling dice will add to the drama of the story. Rolling the dice decides not just success or failure, but also “fortune”: the other events, good or bad, that complicate it. This helps players come together to describe smashing successes, mixed failures, and more.

You might be interested in Courage and Challenges if you do a lot of chat or forum RP, and are interested in adding in a bit more structure and randomness, or if you’d like a lightweight system to introduce roleplaying to new people.
